July 2026 Edition

July: A month of gratitude and reflection.

I recently had the privilege of attending the 2026 NRG Oncology Summer Meeting, where researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, and industry partners came together with a shared goal of advancing cancer research and improving patient outcomes.

As I reflect on the meeting, I am reminded that meaningful progress happens through partnership. The conversations we had, the relationships we continue to build, and the collaborations taking shape reaffirm that no single organization can move the field forward alone. It takes all of us working together.

Since ECRF was founded just over a year ago, our approach has been intentionally grassroots. We have focused on building genuine relationships, listening to our community, and creating opportunities to connect patients, caregivers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocates. Every step has been guided by one simple belief: patients deserve a seat at the table.

As a patient-led organization, we represent the voices of those living with and beyond endometrial cancer. Scientific expertise drives discovery, but lived experience is equally important. Patients understand diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and quality of life in ways data alone cannot capture. These experiences shape better research and more meaningful clinical trials.

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, a chance to raise awareness and advocate for better outcomes. I'll join the UCSF Annual Symposium online on September 19th and will share details soon.

The partnerships and collaborations at meetings like the NRG Oncology, SGO, and ASCO Annual Meetings give me hope for the future. Together, we’re building stronger connections between researchers and the people they aim to serve.

As we grow, support remains essential. Every donation, shared message, collaboration, or introduction helps us move forward. Thank you to everyone who has supported ECRF, collaborates with us, shares expertise, and believes in patient partnership.

We remain committed to advancing endometrial cancer research by ensuring the patient voice is always heard and valued. We especially thank those who have made donations in honor or memory of loved ones. We read your loved ones' stories in their obituaries, and often say to each other, “I wish I had met her.” We invite you to join us in changing the lives of current and future endometrial cancer patients.

RECRUITING: A Phase II Study of Dostarlimab Immunotherapy in People with Locally Advanced "Mismatch Repair-Deficient" Cancer

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is currently recruiting eligible patients for a new clinical trial exploring fertility-preserving treatment for women with early-stage mismatch repair-deficient (MMRd) endometrial cancer, including those with Lynch syndrome.

Pelvic Floor PT Improves Sexual Function, QOL After Gynecologic Cancer

Pembrolizumab Monotherapy Improves PFS vs Chemotherapy in Frontline dMMR Endometrial Cancer

Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) monotherapy significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) compared with platinum doublet chemotherapy in patients with mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer who had not previously received systemic chemotherapy or who experienced recurrence more than 6 months after completing prior adjuvant therapy, meeting the primary end point of the phase 3 KEYNOTE-C93 trial (NCT05173987).

ACOG Updates Guidelines on Postmenopausal Bleeding Evaluation

Endometrial ultrasound alone is not sufficient for the initial evaluation of most women with postmenopausal bleeding, according to a clinical practice update on the use of transvaginal ultrasonography from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) published in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Catheter-Based OCT May Help ID Early Endometrial Cancer

A quick optical biopsy using optical coherence tomography (OCT) may improve endometrial cancer screening, according to a study published online June 3, 2026. An imaging feature extraction pipeline and a machine learning model to categorize results as normal/benign or precancer/cancer using 26 extracted imaging features demonstrated exploratory sensitivity and specificity of 94% and 87%, respectively.

Richard Schilsky on Promising Results for Temsirolimus for Patients With Advanced Uterine Cancer and PIK3CA Mutations

Temsirolimus, an inhibitor of mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), shows good antitumor activity in patients with PIK3CA-mutated uterine cancer and may be an off-label option for patients with no standard treatments remaining, according to results from the ASCO-sponsored TAPUR (Targeted Agent and Profiling Utilization Registry) study.
